Our Prediction:

Ireland will win

Ireland – Netherlands Match Prediction | 15-09-2019 08:30

The Oman Quadrangular T20 series 2019 is proving to be quite an exciting one as the teams continue to play their group matches. Every loss against an associate nation is going to be magnified now that Ireland is a test nation. This is a tournament that must be difficult for Ireland to play in. They come in knowing that they are expected to win everything but they are not good enough to win all the matches.

Balbirnie and O'Brien are also key figures in this line-up and it will be crucial that one of them bats deep and scores big. Ireland's biggest hopes with the ball are Boyd Rankin, George Dockrell and Simi Singh who has had a very good tournament. Stirling has already made a mark with the bat through his knock of 71 against Oman in the first match and the team will want him to deliver a similar performance against the Netherlands. Ireland's batting strength resides mainly in their skipper Paul Stirling, Kevin O'Brien, Andrew Balbirnie and Simi Singh. Dockrell took a couple of wickets against Oman and the left-arm spinner also took a couple against the Dutch in last year's tri-nation series. Rankin has plenty of experience under his belt and the onus will be on him to take wickets in the powerplay.

Venue Details, Facts,and History

We are hoping that there is not going to be anything in it for the bowlers and the batsmen will have to work hard to get boundaries once the ball gets older. The pitch is expected to be flat but slow in nature. This match will be played at Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1), Al Amarat, Oman.

T20 is not Irelands favorite format and we suspect they are going to have a bitter taste in their mouth at the end of this match as well. They have players in form, a better batting lineup, and less pressure to play under. The Netherlands is definitely the favorite in this encounter, though. How many times has it happened that an associate nation is the bookmakers favorite while heading into a match?

Who Will Win Ireland vs Netherlands 5th Match Oman Quadrangular T20 Series 2019

The Dutch never really looked to be in trouble during their run-chase and they got to their target with an over to spare. Netherlands registered a four-wicket win when they played their last T20I against Ireland - in June 2018 in the Netherlands Tri-Nation Series at Hazelaarweg, Rotterdam. Ireland posted 158/6 on the board after winning the toss and electing to bat first.

Visee has shown fine form in this tournament and he will look to produce a quality knock just like he did against Scotland. Tobias Visee, Stephan Myburgh, Ryan ten Doeschate and Wesley Barresi form the core of Netherlands' batting and the team will be hoping for at least two of them to play the big innings in this match. Barresi has four half-centuries in T20Is and he provides stability to the team's middle order. Roelof van der Merwe has a decent bowling record in T20 internationals and his left-arm spin could trouble the Irish batsmen on this wearing pitch. Klaassen and van der Gugten will open the bowling for their team and they will be expected to make the early inroads into Ireland's batting line-up. Netherlands will bank on Timm van der Gugten, Fred Klaassen and Roelof van der Merwe when it comes to bowling.

Netherlands may have a superior head-to-head record, but we feel Ireland are slightly better placed to win here. Ireland and Netherlands appear pretty evenly matched on paper. However, Ireland have more quality in their bowling department and their spinners George Dockrell and Simi Singh are likely to do well on a pitch that has now become conducive to spin bowling. The Dutch emerged victorious when the two teams faced off in the Netherlands Tri-Nation Series last year and that should give them plenty of confidence. The latter have the upper hand in terms of their impressive record against Ireland and the fact that they have beaten them in each of their previous five T20I encounters.

Pitch Report of Sportpark Het Schootsveld, Deventer

Gaby Lewis was in great form when these teams last met and started this tournament with a good knock too. Leah Paul is listed as a batsman but bowled well last time out, taking 1-19, and could be a bonus all-round option. Robine Rijke fell short last time out, but she is a key part of the Dutch middle order, meanwhile.

In the second match, Gaby Lewis top-scored as the Irish hit 213/4 but the rain intervened to save the Dutch. Ireland were in dominant form against the Dutch during the quadrangular series, scoring 169/5 and then restricting them to 90/7 in reply in their first meeting. It was eight years after their last WT20i matches, but the Irish are still unbeaten against them having won six of their seven games in total.

They won their first match against Oman by just fifteen runs and they were beaten by Scotland with a handsome margin of six wickets. On the other side, the Netherlands had won their both matches played. They beat Scotland in their first match by seven wickets and Oman in their second match with a big margin of eight wickets. Ireland had played two matches in this tournament so far.
